Two-Vehicle Border Service
Your first driver takes you to the Saudi exit post at Al Batha. After passport control, you cross to the UAE post at Al Ghuwaifat by free shuttle bus or taxi, and your second driver is waiting on the UAE side.

From Al Khobar, Abu Dhabi is the closest big UAE city by road, about 700 km and around 8 to 9 hours away. It suits business trips to the capital, family visits and weekend breaks on Saadiyat or Yas. You leave Khobar with a Saudi driver, clear the Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat posts, crossing between them by free shuttle bus or taxi, and continue with a UAE driver who takes you straight to your hotel, office or home in Abu Dhabi.

Allow about 8 to 9 hours. Most of that is open desert highway; the border adds the uncertainty. A dawn or early morning departure from Khobar usually puts you in Abu Dhabi by mid-afternoon, with time to check in before dinner.
Driving or flying to Abu Dhabi
The flight itself is short, but door to door you add the drive to DMM, which sits well north of Khobar, plus check-in, security and the taxi at the other end. By car it is about 8 to 9 hours with room for your luggage within the vehicle's capacity and no queues at gates. For a family with luggage, or anyone carrying samples or equipment, the drive is often simpler. For a solo traveller with hand luggage, flying may still be quicker.

This route involves a coordinated border crossing between the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Passengers are required to exit the vehicle and complete immigration and customs procedures in person. We arrange vehicles on both sides of the border to ensure a smooth and efficient transfer.
