Route guide
Most people leaving Dubai for Abu Dhabi are heading to a meeting, a flight out of AUH or a weekend on Yas or Saadiyat. It is a 140 km run down the coast, with no border and no paperwork. The same driver collects you at your door in Dubai and stays with you to the address in the capital, so you can take calls or rest on the way. Book it one way or as a return.
Travel time & distance
Duration
~2 hours
Distance
~140 km
Plan on about 2 hours. Getting out of Dubai is the slow part: Sheikh Zayed Road can crawl in the morning rush and again from late afternoon. Once past Jebel Ali the road opens up. Reaching central Abu Dhabi or the islands adds a few minutes at the end.
A working day in the capital
The route works well for a day of meetings in Abu Dhabi: ADGM on Al Maryah Island, government offices or a client downtown. Leave Dubai around 7 and you arrive before most morning meetings, with a quiet back seat to prepare in. Need to get home too? Book the return as a separate transfer with its own pick‑up time. Waiting at a non-airport pick‑up is free for 15 minutes.
When to set off
- Before 7am: the quietest roads out of Dubai, good for early meetings or AUH flights
- Late morning: the rush has eased and the run is usually close to 2 hours
- After 4pm on weekdays: slower going until you clear Jebel Ali
- Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings: busier with weekend traffic between the two cities
Collected in Dubai, dropped in Abu Dhabi
