    What clients say

    5.0 on Google
“The trip was long but the car was of excellent quality (a BMW 7 series). I had to change cars at the border between UAE and KSA where I had to take a taxi between the border controls, however, the 2nd car was already waiting for me on the other side of the border and the handover was very smooth, including luggage transfer.”

    Route guide

Dubai to Doha by road runs down the UAE coast past Abu Dhabi, through Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province and into Qatar. It covers about 700 km and two borders. Expat families visiting friends, sports and events fans, and people moving between the two cities with lots of luggage choose it over flying. You change cars at the UAE-Saudi crossing and step out for passport checks at each border, with your next driver already waiting.

    Travel time & distance

    Duration

    ~9 hours

    Distance

    ~700 km

Allow about 9 hours from Dubai. The run to Al Ghuwaifat takes up a good part of the day, then queue times at the UAE-Saudi and Saudi-Qatar posts make the biggest difference. Morning departures generally avoid the heaviest border traffic.

Door to door: flying vs driving from Dubai

The flight to Doha is short, but door to door it is rarely quick: the drive to DXB, check-in, security, boarding, then immigration and a taxi in Doha. The road takes longer overall, about 9 hours, but there is room for your luggage within the vehicle's capacity, no early check-in and no rebooking if your plans move. For groups, the price per vehicle can also compare well against several airline tickets.

    Border crossing process

UAE → Saudi Arabia → Qatar

This route crosses 2 borders, each with its own arrangement. At Al Ghuwaifat / Al Batha: Your first driver takes you to the exit post. After passport control, you cross to the other post by free shuttle bus or by taxi (about AED 300-400, paid locally). Your second driver is waiting on the other side. At Salwa / Abu Samra: You stay in the same car, with your luggage on board.

    1. 1Your UAE driver drops you at the Al Ghuwaifat exit post
    2. 2UAE exit passport control
    3. 3Cross to the Saudi post at Al Batha by free shuttle bus or taxi (about AED 300-400, paid locally)
    4. 4Saudi entry: passport, visa and customs checks
    5. 5Your Saudi driver meets you and continues to the Salwa / Abu Samra border
    6. 6Saudi exit passport control at Salwa, staying with your car
    7. 7Qatari entry at Abu Samra: passport, visa and customs checks
    8. 8Continue in the same car to Doha

A second vehicle with a fresh driver will be waiting after the border to continue your journey. The entire process is coordinated in advance to minimise waiting times and ensure a seamless experience.

    How the border day goes

After Saudi entry, your next driver takes you across the Eastern Province to Salwa. There you step out again for Saudi exit and Qatar entry at Abu Samra before the last hour or so into Doha.
