    Route guide

Heading north from Dammam, Kuwait City is a half-day drive up the Gulf coast. The route is used by people working across the Eastern Province and Kuwait, and by families visiting relatives. One driver takes you from Dammam to the Saudi exit at Al Khafji. After you clear both posts, a second driver meets you at the agreed handover point for the last stretch into Kuwait City.

    Travel time & distance

    Duration

    ~6–7 hours

    Distance

    ~450 km

Expect 6 to 7 hours. Most of it is open highway north along the coast, so the real variable is the border. Weekends and holidays bring longer queues at Al Khafji and Nuwaiseeb. Leaving Dammam early in the morning usually gets you into Kuwait City by early afternoon.

    Business trips to Kuwait

For a meeting in Kuwait City, the drive comes close to flying once you count airport time at both ends. You can work in the back on the Saudi stretch and arrive at the office door rather than a taxi rank. If you need to come back the same week, book the return leg as its own trip. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick‑up helps when meetings move.

    Border crossing process

    Nuwaiseeb / Al Khafji

Your next driver meets you at the agreed handover point at the border. We confirm the exact point with you before the trip.

    1. 1Your Saudi driver takes you to the Al Khafji exit post
    2. 2Saudi exit passport control
    3. 3Kuwaiti entry at Al Nuwaiseeb: passport, visa and customs checks
    4. 4Your next driver meets you at the agreed handover point and continues to Kuwait

A second vehicle with a fresh driver will be waiting after the border to continue your journey. The entire process is coordinated in advance to minimise waiting times and ensure a seamless experience.

    Leg by leg

    • Dammam to Al Khafji: roughly 4 to 4.5 hours of highway with your Saudi driver
    • Saudi exit, Kuwait entry and the car change: around 1 hour, longer at peak times
    • Nuwaiseeb to Kuwait City: about 1 to 1.5 hours with your second driver
    • A short rest stop on the Saudi side fits inside these timings, just tell your driver when you want it

Collected in Dammam, delivered in Kuwait

Your Saudi driver collects from any address in Dammam, Al Khobar or Dhahran, or from King Fahd International Airport (DMM). The Kuwait-side driver takes you to Kuwait City, Salmiya, Hawalli, Mangaf or Kuwait International Airport (KWI).
