    Route guide

Muscat to Kuwait is one of the longest routes we run, around 1,600 km through Oman, the UAE and the full length of eastern Saudi Arabia. It means three borders and 15 to 16 hours on the road, so most people break it with a night's stop. Those who book it are typically families relocating between Oman and Kuwait, Kuwaitis driving home after a holiday, and travellers taking household belongings with them.

    Travel time & distance

    Duration

    ~15–16 hours

    Distance

    ~1,600 km

The total is 15 to 16 hours, including time at three borders. That is too long for one comfortable day, so an overnight stop in the UAE or Saudi Arabia is recommended. Hatta, Al Ghuwaifat and Al Khafji each add waiting time, more so during Eid and school holidays.

Moving house between Oman and Kuwait

For a relocation, the road can be quicker and easier to control than freight. Your suitcases, boxes and the things you can't do without arrive when you do. A van gives the most room. As you change cars at the borders, pack in pieces you can manage alone, and keep passports and paperwork in a bag that never leaves your side.

    Border crossing process

Oman → UAE → Saudi Arabia → Kuwait

This route crosses 3 borders, each with its own arrangement. At Al Wajajah / Hatta: After exit control, a shuttle bus takes you between the two posts (a small fee may apply for the last leg, paid locally). Your next driver is waiting just past the border. At Al Ghuwaifat / Al Batha: Your first driver takes you to the exit post. After passport control, you cross to the other post by free shuttle bus or by taxi (about AED 300-400, paid locally). Your second driver is waiting on the other side. At Al Khafji / Al Nuwaiseeb: Your next driver meets you at the agreed handover point at the border. We confirm the exact point with you before the trip.
